Food Service Provider
Teacher Assistant
Teacher Associate
Opening for a Food Service Provider within SEVCA Head Start. Seeking a motivated individual to prepare meals for a large group of preschoolers. Food Service Providers will be responsible for meal prep, serving meals that are high in nutrients on time, kitchen clean- up; dishes, emptying garbage daily, cleaning appliances, cleaning cupboards/drawers, etc. Food Service Providers are also responsible for shopping, putting groceries away and paperwork. Food Service Providers are responsible for being familiar with Head Start Performance Standards and guidelines of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and State of Vermont Early Childhood Program Licensing Regulations, and ensuring they are being met in the kitchen. Experience planning, preparing and serving meals to large groups, knowledge of CACFP guidelines are a distinct advantage.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Education related to food services and CACFP.
- Valid driver’s license.
- SERVSafe certification
- Evidence of a physical exam within the past year.
- Experience with working with low-income families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of families and children at all times.
- Positive attitude.

Openings for a Head Start Teacher Assistant within SEVCA Head Start. Seeking a nurturing and motivated professional to work with children ages 3-5 years old in a play-based environment. Teacher Assistants are responsible for being familiar with Head Start Performance Standards, Vermont Early Learning Standards, and State of Vermont Early Childhood Program Licensing Regulations, and ensuring they are being met in the classroom. Teacher Assistants are part of a team designed to provide all children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. The teacher assistant is part of a team that meets regularly. This position requires a close collaborative working relationship with the Lead Teacher, Teacher Associate, parents and other center staff. Familiarity with Second Step Curriculum and The Creative Curriculum are a distinct advantage.
Job Requirements:
- CDA (Child Development Associate) or State Board of education approved Human Services Program with emphasizes on child development or early childhood education is required: this includes one program year of successful experience in a preschool classroom.
- Minimum of 15 clock hours of professional development activities each year.
- Experience working with young groups of children.
- Experience with working with low-income families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of families and children at all times.
- Positive attitude.

Practice Based Coach
Child Care Coordinator

Job Type: full-time, seasonal (August-May)
Job Description:
The Family Partners primary role is to partner with families, teaching staff, managers, community, consultants and anyone else that is beneficial in engaging families towards positive goals for themselves and their children; within the Head Start program, as well as each family’s individual home setting. This role will be performed by the providing the following objectives and by overseeing monthly Parent Meetings/Functions.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Human Services preferred or certification or credential in social work, human services, family services or counseling and experience working with Head Start families.
- Experience with home visiting preferred.
- An ability to identify and promote family strengths.
- An ability to effectively work with families, staff and community agencies.
- Knowledge of the Head Start philosophy.
- Knowledge of community resources and how to access them.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle.
- Willingness to commit to a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekend hours.
- Positive attitude.
- Flexibility – ability to adapt quickly and responsively to changing client’s needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding children and families at all times.
- Ability to work as a team player with center teaching staff.
- Provide opportunities for parents to participate in educational trainings, meetings, Head Start functions and governing boards.
- Collaborate with the community to assist families with resources, and being aware of community opportunities and needs that may affect the families we serve.

Job Description:
Implement the Coaching program to fidelity by following the system established to select, support and mentor up to six Coachees’ per program year. Through observation, use of videoing segments of a classroom day and reflection of teaching practices will be strategies used to work with selected Coachees to develop and work on established goals.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in early childhood education or related degree is required for the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others (both verbally and written), including giving and receiving feedback on the quality of services.
- Experience providing staff training and development, including on-site consultation, coaching, and mentoring to other staff.
- Completion of the Practice-Based Coaching Training offered by OHS.
- Experience planning and implementing a preschool curriculum.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff at all times.
